• KCEMT has been part of the team that has been working with the Ministry of Health in formulating the National Emergency Medical Care Policy, which will go a long way in facilitating EMS when launched.
• KCEMT is also working with the Ministry of Health to develop a standardised curriculum for EMT’s, First Responders- Operators
• There is an opportunity for young people to develop a career in EMS through training as Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.

Malteser International with funding from The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) supported KCEMT in the establishment of  a national functional website and membership database including payment integration for sustainable human resource development.

MI works closely with the government, civil society and the private sector in all the countries.

• KCEMT was accredited an American Heart Association in February 2015 centre for the training of BLS, ACLS and PALS
• BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.
• ACLS: For healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): For healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units

• A clinical site is a health facility that offers both in patient and out patient services where EMT students are allowed to practice skills and techniques through supervision and guidance of experienced medical health professionals.
• They are attached to the Accidents and Incidents, paediatric departments and maternity, theatre and surgical wards.
• Ambulance agencies also provide sites for the students to practice the required skills for pre hospital care. They are also attached to the dispatch/ call centres for ambulance response
